Interfacing to bank systems

Jul 07, 2004 2 Replies

Hi all,

Would anyone be able to tell me if it is possible to interface a software product to the the banks systems e.g. barclays businessmaster, HSBC hexagon etc. Is it difficult and what is the process involved? Anyone got any experience in this area??

Many thanks James.

Fairly straightforward. most bank systems will download (export) statement data in a variety of formats. Your software then has to read this information into its own database. Similar principal for payments. The bank software accepts instructions in a few formats, which hopefully your software can produce. This file is imported into the bank software and then you do the usual security checks in the bank software. Some banks offer more complex software which allows for real time automated downloads and uploads, you may even find some banks allow the security to be undertaken in the host software as opposed to the bank software. However this is more for the very large Corporates.

Thanks for the advice, i've managed to get the format details for Natwest, HBOS and Lloyds TSB, don't suppose anyone has the details for, or can tell me where to get, the details for Barclay's BusinessMaster and HSBC's Hexagon can they??

Many thanks James
