It may not be prudent to get a loan. I assume you're in debt already?

Don't do it. Live within your means. If that means driving around an old banger then so be it. Taking out loans for car deposits on a low income is not something I would advise.

You think you're skint now??!

I have never got a loan to buy a car. It's not an investment. You can get a car quite cheaply, the tax and insurance likely to cost more. It also pays to get to know how to work on cars as well. Until recently I always did all my own work including rebuilding engines and gearboxes, welding etc.

Sorry but it's my way of thinking and I steer clear of loans. It also ensures you live within your means.

Save for the deposit cos it'll get you in the habit of saving to pay off the rest of the car. If you struggle to save a deposit then you may well find it hard to meet payments on the car.

Have you seen that BBC program in the mornings teaching people how to live within their means? "Need more money - get another job and spend less"
