Money Orders from Canada

Nov 30, 2005 4 Replies

If I send a sterling money order drawn on a Canadian bank to someone in the UK, will they have to pay a service charge to cash it?

Thanks.

I think it depends on the bank from what I've read here, some people's banks charge, others dont

Just a thought, but some banks are more "global" than others, so something through the HSBC might be subject to less charges.

I know when I was last over there in May/June, everywhere I used my Halifax card it was examined closely. My wife used her HSBC just as often and wasn`t subject to any scrutiny.

There`s a flaming great big HSBC in Toronto, so it could just be that its better known ?!?

no offence m8 , but , Halifax or HSBC , what are you going to choose ?

has to be HSBC

No offence taken, but i`ve had no problems with the Halifax personally
