Mortgage Question: Transferring a mortgage to a new property.

Before I start I do understand that technically the mortgage is not transferred but for the purpose of this question I will refer to it as such. My problem is that my wife and I are moving and basically that means we have to change jobs because of the distance involved in the move. This is not a problem for my wife as she has managed to get a transfer with her job but I am in the process of looking and have not found anything yet although one job seems promising. The job in question pays a significantly less than my current job(about 4-5k difference) although I hope the find another job that pays more. We have found a house and the process of transferring the mortgage has started (i.e. solicitor instructed, searches being carried out etc). My concern is that if I get this job then I would have to give my employers notice. Ideally I want my current salary to be taken into consideration rather than my new one. The new mortgage is for the same amount as we previously had.

  1. Is my old employer obliged to inform the mortgage company that I have given notice(the notice period is 4 weeks)?

  1. If so then will my new job’s salary be taken into account and what effect will this have on the mortgage transfer?

Thanks for any help

Give the new lender your existing salary slips. They won't know you're changing jobs.

But doesn't the mortgage company check with your employer?

Yes, but the employer will just say "Yes, he works here", and will not add "but he's just resigned".
