I have been looking at the CIA Factbook and I was wondering if someone would be able to explane the difference between the External debt and the Public debt? (I didn't really understand the explanations given on the site)
I don't have much background in finance / economics, so if you could use one syllable words, that'd be great.
You're right to ask, misleading terms are often used. I've heard public debt to refer to both government and individuals debt.
The 3 main categories are -
government debt individuals debt business debt
