OT? Paying Council Tax at the Post Office..

Sorry if this is OT, I couldn't find a appoiate news group.

I have a Council Tax payment card issued by my local Council.

I used to pay by a paying book and using cash.

Will I be able to use the Council Tax payment card and my Debit card to pay my bill at the PO instead of paying cash?

I would have thought the answer would be on the documentation sent to you. If you are still unclear you should ask your council. I'm amazed that you think we can answer that question without you even telling us which council you are talking about.

This is no way to answer an honest request for information - its both arrogant and unhelpful. Council Tax payments must be a national policy - not local. If there was documentation sent by a Council it may be difficult to understand - quite possibly because the Council staff don't understand the policy themselves.

I do not think that the Post Office will accept a card other than their own account card, which my lady friend uses. It would be best to ask at the Post Office.

In fact, my local post office is to close soon. TV licence payments etc have to be paid to a local newsagent, and my debit card was accepted in that case.

If you are willing to read it you will find out that they say Councils

*may* accept this and that payment. Therefore your assertion that Council Tax payments must be a national policy are incorrect.

You can't be bothered to read the leaflets, you can't be bothered to ask your council, you can't be bothered to use a search engine like I did.

All you can be bothered to do is to insult and want somebody else to make the effort.
