Powergen takeover of Amerada

Has anyone else played the stupidity game where you totally ignore their requests for meter readings?

Anyone actually decided to move to a new supplier.

I moved recently from British Gas and TXU Energi to Scottish Power online - no problems.

Tried moving but was told that I cannot transfer within four weeks of a previous transfer.

The 'previous transfer' is defined by Powergen as changing from Amerada to Powergen!

This was despite giving them notice well in advance of the changeover.

I and Scottish Power will just have to be patient.

I've stayed with Powergen following the transfer from Amerada as they still came out cheapest for me compared to other suppliers.

I received two postal requests, five emails and two telephone calls for meter readings and this was all despite ringing Powergen to tell them after I'd received the first email. Hope this isn't a portent of things to come!!

Yes; moved to Scottish Power. Told Amerada that I was going to change well within their deadline.

I thought that it was all going to go horribly wrong when I got an email from Powergen demanding a meter reading on the 15th of October - their date from changing from Amerada to Powergen - while Scottish Power were going to take over on the 22nd of October. A phone call to Amerada was met with intransigence; they said that the transfer to Powergen would have to take place, then a week later the transfer to Scottish Power would happen. In the event I did give both suppliers the readings they wanted, but a meter reader turned up on the 22nd and the transfer from Amerada to Scottish Power seems to have gone through OK.

Due to a billing system c*ck-up Ameradas final bill undercharged me by over 100!

Thing I like about Scottish Power - when you call them you speak to someone with a Scottish accent! Och-aye.
