I am an American researcher helping out on a film about finance and debt. I am wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction of finding out how much a UK citizen who makes 26,474.41 GBP a year pays in taxes. I can be reached at snipped-for-privacy@gmail.com

You'll need a tax code which is 503L for the average joe.

Define taxes.

He will be liable to income tax, national insurance contributions if employed or self-employed, value added tax on many purchases, council tax on his property, TV licence tax, vehicle excise duty, fuel tax, excise duties on alcohol and tobacco, and Lord knows what besides.
