Question

I am an American researcher helping out on a film about finance and debt. I am wondering if anyone can help point me in the right direction of finding out how much a UK citizen who makes 26,474.41 GBP a year pays in taxes. I can be reached at

Define taxes.
He will be liable to income tax, national insurance contributions if employed or self-employed, value added tax on many purchases, council tax on his property, TV licence tax, vehicle excise duty, fuel tax, excise duties on alcohol and tobacco, and Lord knows what besides.
You can find many of the current rates by going to the HMRC web site at

and clicking on "Rates, Codes and Allowances" in the Quick Links box.
