It's great for supermarket profits though. When it first appeared on the shelves I thought nobody would be so stupid as to buy so little rice for so much money. Wrong!
Then I realised the price point is to compete against rice from takeaways, which explains a lot. It also appeals to the depressingly large number of people (IME anyway) who can't cook rice.
But then a depressingly large number of people can't cook at all.
