Rejected Credit Card applications

Is this the case with the oldest *British* universities? I had the impression it only applied to the oldest *English* universities.

Unless of course, as frequently happens, they study subjects which they did not study at school. In the case where topics *are* repeated, it is commonplace for the Scottish university to allow the student to start in the second year of that subject. Where this is a well known standard situation, the offer is sometimes made as part of the original acceptance. Whether or not that is the case, it is usually possible to enter into individual negotations. For example, this doesn't just apply to things studied at school, sometimes a student has acquired special expertise outside school.

Thats a very broad and sweeping statement. It depends quite a bit on the course. Students may have covered some of the subjects before, but are unlikely to have covered all the material.

As another reply has said you can get direct entry to second year on some courses if you show you have covered the material.

Many (most?) Scottish children stay on until 6th year and do advanced highers anyway, so they will often have studied their subjects at as high or higher a level than their English counterparts.

We have seen a massive increase in applicants from England to Scottish Universities this year, so your message is obviously not getting through!
