Any idea why it took them 2 weeks plus to take it out - normally they do it the next day?

Was it the station counter, an automated ticket machine or the ticket inspectors ticket machine? I could understand the latter taking a (short) while to show up as they presumably have to download the information. I know I paid for some tickets at Huntingdon station on a auto ticket machine and that took several weeks to show up, to be honest I would expect such a machine to do online authorisation for every transaction as all you do is insert you card without any pin or signature verification required.
