1st Credit / Debt Collectors in general, what utter and complete scum.

Hmmm. My ire was more for the scum who tried so hard to escape the debts they'd undertaken. The schadenfreude that legal costs had landed them with the loss of the same 100,000 they'd escaped was really most enjoyable.
I further hope that at some point, someone reneges on 100 grand they owe this couple. It would be educational for them to experience that.
In such a light, I'm wont to regard debt collectors as modern day knights.

Totally agree. I applaud the work of the debt collectors making the less honest pay what they owe.
