Trading names

I've read gbf3.pdf (Business Names) and gbf1pdf (Company Formation) from Companies House.

It just tells you how to display the names, doesn't say much about bank accounts or trading as.

For example, If I have a Ltd company called 888 Media Ltd I would like to have trade names like 888 TV, 888 Publishing, 888 Records, 888 Music. These names are for the different segments of the business.

I would still only have the 1 x Ltd company and the same bank account. All businesses would be paying and invoicing the 888 Media Ltd. The name would be at the bottom of the inovices. Something like 888 TV is the trade name of 888 Media Ltd.

Is this ok, and can everyone just pay 888 Media Ltd for work of 888 TV? I would be using 888 TV as the marketing name in advertising and promotion.

Do I have to open a bank account for each department? Do I have to get the bank to set up "trading as" or "trade names" for each dept??

Or is it ok to start making up any old trade name I want and then get everyone to pay the Ltd company?

Yes.

Yes.

No, so long as the cheques are always payable to 888 Media Ltd.

Every trade name you mae up would have to have the LtdCo name on its stationary somewhere or other.

you get paid in the trading name and deposit it in the companies account , as long as the bank are aware that you trade under several names they all belong to the company then there is not an issue

How is it more tax efficient? You have to deal with the associated company rules.
