Warning about HSBC

Jun 10, 2004 4 Replies

Hello,

Just a quick warning about HSBC...

if you open a account over the internet and take your ID in to a local branch, make sure that they put the Branch Stamp on all the copys...

I've got a letter from them saying they can't accept my ID as its a copy, and it didn't have the stamp on... Be Warned!

Thanks for your time, David Ginger.

Why do you think that is a warning specific to HSBC? Shouldn't it be a

*general* warning, about providing ID to *all* banks??

I had the same problem with LLoyds, who decided the ID the branch thought was okay wasn't! Ended up visiting them three times over several weeks.

And you decided to stay with them - that was just the start of a very bad relationship - it's all down here from now.....

I was trying to cut my losses. This was trying to move a cash ISA to them. Furthermore they managed to lose two of my cheques. I lost about 2-3 weeks of interest.

I ought to have complained but the whole episode drained me of energy. It's too late now (happened over a year ago).
