New to the newsgroup i have just finished qualifications in accounting and wondered what sort of types of accounting software there is out there at the moment.
The main ones i have heard are Quickbook and Sage with different versions available.
What other makes are there that are used within the workplace ?
Microsoft is about to launch one called Small Business Accounting. It should be released in September, I believe.

Dozens or hundreds, from custom software designed for mainframes and unix boxes to SAP, Oracle Financials and other customizable systems for large corporations, to Solomon, MAS 90, Great Plains, among others for middle sized companies, to QuickBooks and Peachtree among others for small business. Many industries have specialized software, like Yardi for property management.
Don't worry whether you know a particular application. As long as you can master one, you can master all of them.
