I'm a Ph.D. student researching online communities related to professional interests.
I've come to know of alt.accounting as a thriving usenet group online, and as part of my Ph.D., I need to look at successful examples such as this online community group.
I am wondering if some of you would be kind enough to answer a few of my questions below.
I would really really appreciate any help that you can provide.
Here are the questions. They're fairly open-ended and you can be as elaborate as you want:
- What are your primary reasons for participating on alt.accounting and what types of activities or tasks do you normally undertake in your routine participation?
- How do you access the usenet group? What are your reasons for using this specific technology medium to access usenet? Are there any specific technology features that help or hinder your participation in activities that you mentioned previously (question 1 above)?
- What makes you trust the alt.accounting usenet group and the members who post here? How has your trust evolved overtime?
- Do you feel a certain sense of community being a member of the alt.accounting online community? What causes these feelings?
