My client, a growing woman's high fashion retailer, is looking for an experienced retail controller in a multi store environment (at least 25 stores) that can work with the detailed processing as well as supervising staff accountants.
Description: Candidate will coordinate and consolidate all internal financial reporting for our multi-store retail chain. Manage and supervise two staff accountants. Develop, document and enforce internal control policies and procedures over the accounting functions and store operations. Coordinate closings of all stores to meet monthly closing requirements of US management and parent company (for worldwide consolidated reporting purposes). Work with Retail President to analyze, understand and communicate monthly the financial results and variations from Budgets/Forecasts. Responsibilities:
Produce Internal Monthly P&L Reports by Store and act as financial advisor for retail President.
Establishing and enforcing policies/controls over store operations, store inventory and daily cash reconciliation's.
Preparation and review of sales & use tax and related support schedules, including coordinating various state audits.
Implement new systems or procedures to improve accuracy and timeliness of financial information and act as the main accounting resource for POS system questions on process and reporting.
Manage the worldwide internal audit requirements for the US Retail stores and report results to Corporate.
Ensure the proper establishment of all financial and operational requirements for new stores.

Skills: Good supervisor of clerical staff that possesses interpersonal skills to motivate and develop staff. A detail-oriented person with good organization skills that will enable them to accumulate and report information for a multi-store environment. The Retail Controller should have a logical thought process that will enable them to break down and simplify current processes and develop new procedures and controls over information flow. Experience with POS systems interface to G/L is important. Must also be able to prepare presentations for Retail President and communicate issues quickly to allow for timely management decisions.
Reports to: Reports directly to Corp.Controller, but will have indirect reporting to Retail President for information requests.
Salary and bonus commensurate with experience.
