backups password protected?

When you backup your Peachtree files to CDs, is that data encrypted well enough that you don't have to worry about someone going through your trash to get sensitive data (such as social security numbers) off them? Or is it a good idea to shred them?

Thanks-

No the data is NOT safe. You can gain access to the data rather easily.

  1. Within the files structure you will see a file called version.tex, this tells the Peachtree version in which the file was created (13.x,
14.x)
  1. after down loading the free trail of the latest release, simply insert your CD point to open the file. It opens converts the data if need be.
  2. If is encrypted, using the permiss.dat file, extract the password.

QuickBooks, Peachtree, MYOB etc... are noth> When you backup your Peachtree files to CDs, is that data encrypted well
