I use Remote Desktop frequently to access PT 2006.
No problems so far.
Just make sure that you have a stable internet connection. I was using VPN connection into work last summer and frequently lost the connection. In one of the disconnects I corrupted the file. It cost $$ to get the file repaired. I found it safer to copy the company files to my hard drive and then back to the company LAN when I was done.
Hi Vinny -
We have clients using Remote Desktop into an XP Pro workstation (either by connecting to the LAN via VPN, or directly using Remote Web Workplace if they're running a Windows Small Business Server). We also have a few clients running PT 2005 on a Terminal Server.
I have used programs like Symantec PC Anywhere for a long time. If you froogle it, you can usually find the server/host combination very reasonably.
For a long time we had dialup on both sides, and I had to tie up the office's fax line whenever I made a connection. Now the office has direcway satellite, but I understand this might pose a problem; I was recently researching how best to do it, but it hasn't been a need so I've gotten away from it. At home I have dsl, so I was hoping to come up wtih a solution that didn't involve dialup, since I no longer have a regular modem on my home pc.
