Alias Bug in RMS?

When I am creating an item, the supplier's reorder number should be made an Alias, but it doesn't do so right away. After entering the number and selecting the Alias tab, the part number isn't listed as an Alias. Instead, I have to leave the Item Properties window by pressing "OK" and then, if I reopen the Properties window for that item and select the Alias tab, the part number shows up.

Do others have this problem? Can it be fixed?

How is the Alias being created? Add-in? SQL Trigger? Either way, the Alias is probably not being created until you close the Properties window - that's when the new item would created and you can't have an alias without the item exisiting...

There is nothing to fix. This process is automated with AutoGen for every supplier reorder number entered. You have to save your data (OK) before the Alias is updated, but the point is you don't have to add anything to Alias other than perhaps a UPC.

The same thing happens if you assign an item to a new supplier or update a part number in a purchase order. You have to save the purchase order before the update takes affect. Once saved this triggers the updates provided by AutoGen.

Since this process is automated there is no need to check Aliases before saving.

Note to other users: AutoGen is an add-in for RMS that is not included with the base software.

If not using an add in, the item property window must be closed to save the info-if not and switching to another tab, does it ask to save the "changed" data 1st?
