Problem: I click on Database>Items>New Item. When I am finished entering all item details ( price, qty, lookupcode, etc) and I get to the alias tab to add the alias. I click add , and add the alias. I then Click OK to create the item. I go back into the item that I just created and the alias is gone. The alias is tied to an itemid=0. I cannot add the alias again because it says it is in use. So I created a black database from RMSDB.bck from the original DBFiles folder located in the fold RMS. I test the same situation in a blank database , and receive the same results. I am not using any addons whatsoever, so hooks/triggers should not be an issue if I understand properly. I tried on a seperate sample database and still receive the same issue. I have tried manually entering the alias instead of scanning it in the display window after clicking add, and same result. I did notice that is assigning non-sequential ID's to the items in the alias table, which in a totally seperate system I setup for testing is assigning the ID's sequentially. I am stumpped. Any suggestions. Thanks all.

Have you tried reindexing from within the Store Operations Administrator ?
I will try reindexing , but I think this will have no effect on the situation because the problem is not related to the database. I have created clean databases, that still give me the same result on this issue.
Do you have full permissions on your database/tempdb ?
Try the query "SELECT * FROM Alias WHERE ItemID = 0" from osql/sqlcmd or rms .. It's possible that you have a corrupted database .. or a problem with permissions on tempdb
