Matrix Alias

We recently updated our entire store from QS2000 POS to RMS. We use Matrix for most of our sales. In Quick Sell 2000 we were able to give a Matrix an Alias, which was very, helpful because sometimes it is hard to remember the number we assign to every matrix. With RMS I do not see this feature anywhere. Just wondering if there is a way to add an Alias to a Matrix. Currently if we cannot remember the Matrix number we do an "F2-search" by description to find it.

Unfortunately there is no way to add an Alias to a Matrix item. The reason is Aliases are referenced to an item via the Item.ID field and because the Matrix item is not actually an item. Matrix items are defined in the ItemClass table.

No way to assign an alias to a Matrix, but a matrix is sort of an alias in it's own right. Any individual item can be a member of multiple Matrices, and you can COPY an existing matrix...

In Item List, highlight the Matrix you want to have an alias to. Click the COPY button. Change the Item Lookup Code to the "Alias" you wanted to add and click OK. You've just added Matrix with the same dimensions and contents...

That is a brilliant idea. That's why he has the [MVP - Retail Mgmt] after his name.

Hey, you can only trick the system so far... Yes, you're right, you would need to add the new item to each matrix to keep them in sync.

Glenn Adams Tiber Creek C> Question for your answer. If a new item gets added to one Matrix how will it
