RMS Inventory- Photo shots of Inventory Capability

Does RMS have the capability to capture images of the items you have in inventory and call up an image from an item view and inventory list view or is this a custom feature that would need to be developed? If it is a custom feature, does anything exist in the marketplace today?

Tim,

If you want to have a picture of your item applied to it you can go to the Special tab in Item Properties, you'll see a field for Picture. This is where you can load a picture of your item. However, all item pictures must be in one folder, the default being "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Retail Management System\Store Operations\Pictures" of one machine, usually the server. I put shortcuts to the folder on the desktop. In addition, if you want other machines to see the pictures you need to go to Administrator on all other machines and set the Picture path accordingly.

Good luck, Matt

This is nice, but RMS needs a way to indicate that a picture is available for a particular item. We have over a thousand items in our database and only have pictures for a handful of hard to identify items. The cashiers never know which ones have pictures and therefore don't bother to make use of the feature. Heck, I took the pictures and put them in there and I don't even remember which ones have pictures.

An small generic icon should be added next to the description on the item select screen when a picture is available.

Hello, another newsgroup reader was kind enough to share with me his insight and hard work, having completed a SQL call and a bit of code to auto-display the item picture in the status screen. Any time an item is scanned AND there is a picture available, it shows up in the header. Why add an extra step of clicking.

Write me an e-mail if you'd like more info! I'm about to fire off an e-mail asking if the author feels comfortable with me sharing the info.

Thanks, Kev> This is nice, but RMS needs a way to indicate that a picture is

It would be nice to have the image in a blob in SQL so that you could image the item at HQ and send it to stores.
