RMS 2.0 matrix dimensions are annoying, but help is available

For reasons I don't understand, MS saw fit in RMS 2.0 to use dimensions data for matrix components that is far less accessible to users than Sub Descriptions are. For instance, I can't edit assign a dimension value to an existing item I have added to a matrix. I can't see a reason for using Dimensions with limitations like this as using Sub Descs. to describe matrix "dimensions" worked fine previously. Does anyone know why MS did this? It's annoying!

Digital Retail Solutions (DRS) has a product called Power Ops (Build

2.2.0003). It's help file mentions (see "What's new") that it can now write to the same table that RMS 2.0 uses for matrix Dimensions. It's obvious to see this when CREATING a matrix, but unfortunately, users are left hanging with partial information -- you can ALSO edit existing items that have been added to a matrix and update the dimensions table in RMS 2.0. You can even get new dimension data added to a defined dimension. Dunno if a new dimension can be defined this way if fewer than three are used, though.

One can get existing items with Sub Description entries to get that information updated/added to the Dimensions table by editing those fields in the edit matrix components window. It seems to only work if any existing info is deleted and then the cell is reselected and the new value is entered. Once saved, it will update the Dimensions table and display properly in RMS Manager's Matrix Component Items window.

I hope someone else finds this info helpful, because it took quite a while to figure out -- just like Neo took a while to beat the Matrix he faced.
