We are new to RMS. When I pull up the receipt template and try to change a hardcoded message in the template, my computer will not allow me to alter it. I cannot backspace over it, delete it or type over it. Any ideas on how to delete a message line out of the receipt template?
If you are modifying the actual file you will need to first right click on the file and uncheck the Read Only file. But a better solution would be to make a copy of the receipt, then right click on the file and uncheck Read Only. You can then save any changes to the file. After making the change you need to reassign the newly created receipt template to the Receipt Format defined in RMS(Store Ops Manager --> Database menu --> Registers --> Receipt Format), it will NOT pick up the changes automatically.
If your problem is the system is giving you an error at a specific point post the error and what you are trying to do when the error occurs.
