Newby needs advice on receipt printer setup

Hi I am new to the newsgroup and RMS. From experience would you say it is best to use serial, parallel or network connections for receipt printers?? Windows or OPOS drivers. I have an Epson U220PB printer setup parallel, windows drivers and 40 column printing and the right paper in but when I print the left side of the receipt gets cut off. Any ideas and advice on best setup would be greatly appreciated. Also using v1.2, XP Pro etc.

Thanks in advance...

Thanks Jeff! I knew it was something simple. RMS could be easier in some of those areas I am finding but...

Thanks again,

Billy @Th> Think,

| Receipt Templates | 40 column | properties of you sales receipt ? Margin Left | change to .1 | OK | Yes | if in POS, exit and re-enter | if not enough, try .2

I agree with Jeff that there really is no 'best'. We use Epson TM-T88III/IV USB with OPOS drivers. We've used other printers from other manufacturers as well, but only when the customer had existing equipment that they wanted to reuse.

Thermal is the only way to go - it's worth the price premium. USB is very quickly becoming a requirement - LPT and COM ports are now considered 'Legacy' connections and are on their way out of the mainstream.

In addition to the margin settings that Jeff mentioned, you might want to adjust the CPL setting (Characters Per Line) - the default receipt template is set to 44 - the U220 should be 40. Adjusting the margins will probably compensate for this anyway.
