Calculate HQ Item Cost as weighted average - not working

I have 'Calculate HQ Item Cost as weighted average' checked in my HQ Configuration--but HQ is not averaging item costs correctly.

To test:

Find an item in the HQ database with zero quantity on hand at all stores.

From any Store Ops, generate a test PO. One line item, an ILC that had zero on hand and a prior cost of $X. Change cost on the PO to $Y, receive & commit the PO.

At this point, Store Ops behaves as expected - cost changes to $Y, reorder cost changes to $Y, quantity on hand, last ordered, last received - everything updates just like you'd expect.

So far, so good...

Wait for HQ to process the next regularly scheduled WS401. Check item properties at HQ.

Quantity on hand - updated OK. Last ordered - updated OK. Last received - NOT UPDATED. Cost - NOT UPDATED. Reorder cost - NOT UPDATED.

As a result: HQ Item Cost is *NOT* being calculated as a weighted average, even though the option *IS* turned on in HQ config.

Please don't reply unless you have a definite fix--I'm hoping to hear from MS on this one.

Todd,

Thank you for the response and I apologize for my delay in replying.

I was referring to the Cost field on the General tab. This field does not calculate as weighted average in my tests. I will open a bug report per your instructions.

At least the Store Cost tab does update. Transaction-based reports seem to be OK. Reports based on the HQ Item table don't seem to take the ItemDynamic data into account, hence the inaccuracy of the HQ Report: Items - Master Value.

This kind of inaccuracy could be very costly if HQ figures are used as fiscal year end inventory values for tax purposes.

While, I was not referring to the Last Received, Last Sold, and Last Cost on the Inventory tab, the 'not implemented' status of those fields is disheartening to say the least.

The queries provided are handy enough, though I'm not so sure that the LastCost updated correctly on my test item. Why are these updates not part of the WS401? It seems that adding this functionality to the WS401 would be fairly simple and not add a lot of processing time to the worksheet. If nothing else, a WS403 could be developed that runs on a different schedule - daily/weekly kind of thing - that updates the HQ Item table with the most recent ItemDynamic info.

Thanks again, Tom
