Can't backup via Administrator

Aug 06, 2009 4 Replies

We have a 2 PC workgroup: POS-PC is the POS computer, ADMIN-PC is the manager computer. The database is located in the POS-PC.

I woul like to perform the backup in the ADMIN-PC via Administrator. Somehow I can't. I get this error:

?cannot open backup device XXXXX device error or device off-line?

Can I backup the DB in a PC which is not the DB location?

If so, how can I do this?

Location of the saved back up file must be pointed to the server's local drive.

It just like that.

Its on a PC called POS and in the manaer PC, running the RMS Administrator's configuration and click "Test connection" it works.

So what else can it be.

when backing up the database, make sure you are browsing to save the backup file to the local drive of the server. If I remember correctly, it will give errors if you try to save the backup file over a network path.

first backup the database to the local drive of the server. then copy and paste the backup file to wherever you want it.

That means we can't backup a DB from a remote computer via RMS Administrator; there's no way for this?.

Is that correct?
