Combining duplicate customers

Is it possible to combine duplicate customers in RMS SO? What about in HQ? Is purchase history combined?

Thanks,

Dan,

The only way I know to combine customers is via New West Tech's "Customer Merge", which they developed for us. I like it. It retains the History while additionally merging the different pieces on the customer record, like if one has phone and one has address, etc.

I do not know of any other way, but maybe someone out here does. Jeff....?

Dan, there is a KB article in CustomerSource that explains how to do this that may be of help to you:

Kevin,

I just checked out this article too. I love it! While it will not work with our database because we have 76,425 customers there, I think this is great for easy maintenance.

Thanks for post> Dan, there is a KB article in CustomerSource that explains how to do this

No problem Jocelyn - I actually got the information off of this forum from someone else, when I asked a similar question some time ago.

And Dan, one thing to be aware of is that this doesn't combine all of the information for customers, such as the address, phone, the information under the additional tab, etc. Basically it just merges the transaction history and payment history for the two accounts, and combines the total visits, total sales, and total savings statistics, before it deletes the account you are not keeping. So you would want to manually merge some of this information before it is lost.
