Converting to HQ

I am currently running RMS SO 1.3 on XP Pro and Server 2003 in two stores. I am planning to link them with HQ.

Any suggestions as to how I should do this?

I would like to know if it is possible to keep each store's transaction history. Can I keep at least one store's history?

Thanks,

Should not be a problem, just install HQ in either server, or you can get a new server just for HQ alone. Does your server 2003 comes with SQL? If not, and you are getting a new server, ask for the SBS as the OS. It comes with SQL, among other stuffs.

As for connecting the SO back to HQ, there are several method, you can consult the help file first in HQ. Else get help from your MRMS partner.

Don't see why you can't keep both store's transaction history, in fact, it should stay there, even after you connect it to HQ. Remember, HQ is just a intermediary to connect all the stores together, its just there to distribute information. How you want to use HQ to control the stores is another story, you can either have full control over items creation/modification etc in HQ or not. Depends on you.

If you are absolutely clueless about HQ, I'd suggest you go with a MRMS partner, I'm sure they can't wait to earn your $$.

You can definitely keep one. Keeping both is dependent on how close the inventory items are between the two stores.

If all of your items 'matchup' between stores - basically meaning that the item lookup codes are consistent between stores - then you will have no problem syncing the two stores to HQ and keeping al of the history.

If you're like most organizations, the items in one store will have absolutely no commonality with the other store. In this case, you are in for a LOT of data entry and cleanup to match them back up. It will be a lot easier if you just sacrifice the transaction history at one store, but you are still going to have to do something to make sure that the items from the store you are going to re-create make it into HQ.

I did this for a client once and if I could go back in time I would no bid it - it's no fun at all...

Good luck!
