upgrade: Retail Management System 1.3

Hi, are there any bad experiences when upgrading from 1.2 to new 1.3 version of RMS? Im planning to upgrade one of my 3 POS in order to test it before install everiwhere in the store.

Thanks in advance,

Aldo

I would recommend testing on a dedicated test bed and a back up database rather than upgrading one of your 3 registers. I've done a couple of updates and there were no issues, but running mixed versions sounds like a very bad idea to me. Might want to consider waiting until after the holiday season to upgrade as well - most stores are busy enough without trying anything new.

Have done about 20 stores ranging from 1 to 17 stations, so far and again, no problems yet. Except it will not work for Win 9x, ME or Win 2000. XP only!

I'm running RMS 1.2 on Win2000 and Win2000 Server. Will I need to upgrade both or just the clients to XP? I assume we are talking about XP Pro as well.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

Preferably both. Win2003 Server is needed too. Pro or Home will work for clients, recommended is Pro. I'm still running a Win2K Server myself, so its not updated yet, either.

Aldo,

You don't have a choice in 1.3. As you start 1.3 POS or Manager, it pops up a warning message and then masks each number in the database after you click OK.
