Anyone try running 1.3 on windows 2000 professional?

Understand that RMS SO 1.3 requires Win XP at least. Anyone tried running it on windows 2000 professional for the POS terminal? If yes, any problems so far? Thanks.

P.S. I have 9 lanes running Win 2k pro, hate to upgrade to Win XP pro just to upgrade to 1.3.

Currently the 1.3 installer prevents the upgrade on Win2k. I say currently because it's a distinct possiblity this may change with 1.3 SP1.

Kevin,

I will be trying to install RMS 1.3 on Win2k. I googled and researched about disabling the Operating System Check and did not come up with any answers. Do you know exactly how to disable this check? I have not done this upgrade yet I just want to be prepared for when I do. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

nt,

1.3 will not install on W2K without the mods. 1.3R will supposedly, it was posted to partners yesterday, but the docs are unclear as to whether it works and I don't have a W2K machine to test on.

Hang on a couple of days.

nt,

That's because it hasn't been officially released to the public yet. All Maintenance plan customers should be receiving it any day now.

I thru together a quick and dirty W2K Pro VM install last nite and 1.3R didn't work. Still testing and waiting for MS to respond to see if its my problem or theirs.

To anyone with Windows 2000,

Well I talked to Microsoft Customer Support and they provided me a link to download the Store Operations for Win2KPro w/SP4. This is not an update but an entire CD that is the entire program for win2k. It installs great with no problems. The only drawback is that if you wanted to connect to headquarters with the headquarters client utility, you are unable to do so. They do not have a release for the client utility on win2k. Since the client utility is on the Headquarters disk you are limited to WinXP or win2003server. But for someone who has multiple lanes and all are running win2k you only have to update one machine to XP so you could fully utilize headquarters functionality. Not a bad trade.
