Quicksell 2000 / Windows 2000

I've been running Quicksell 2000 for over five years on Windows 95 on NEC pentium II 233's, and it runs great. But now, its time to upgrade my hardware, and hence, upgrade my OS. I've been trying to get QS2000 to run on the new machine and I can't get it to run. I have a parallel port dongle for the software, and I've tried installing it too, but I can't get the system up and running. I don't have the original install disks, they were damaged in a break-in 4 years ago.

Anyone have any hints for me? Should I just install the demo system and copy my database files over the demo ones? How do I initialize the dongle in Win2000? Should I just upgrade to RMS, and if so, at what cost? I'm a simple pet shop owner, and the attraction of QS2000 was the price...

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

We upgraded from QS2000 to RMS a year ago. The systems work alike in some functions but entirely different in other functions. It takes several more steps to enter a new item into the database, the reports work different, and per hour customer count is not easily accessed. On the bright side, RMS offers security features you never thought of in QS2000. The options for function keys at the bottom of the screen are more varied.

Overall, upgrading to RMS was easy and I like the operating system. There are some differences you have to learn and sometimes I wish it had aspects from QS because they were just easier.

My vote, if at all possible go ahead and upgrade. Get the demo version. Try it out and see what you think.
