I'm not sure I would consider Q2002 an "upgrade", since there have been three years of newer versions since.

I agree with your statement as phrased; but I found Q2002 to be significantly better than Q2000 and Q2001.

The only reason I upgraded from my Q2000 was because the downloading of stock info was no longer supported, and we were force to upgrade. And, following in MS footsteps, a nice a easy to use program that ran fine on my old Win98se 233Mhz system has now been upgraded to a bloated Q2004 and requires running on my P4

Point well taken. Other than the again-buggy Internal Transfers reporting feature, I think 2005 has brought some nice enhancements. I honestly can't think of a reason that I wouldn't recommend going to 2005, versus any of the prior releases.

By the way, the "broken" aspect of Internal Transfers is that the snapshot I/E graph correctly excludes internal transfers, but when you launch the large graph from the snapshot, it changes to Exclude All transfers, which makes the full size graph differ from the snapshot. I've submitted a bug report. What I suggested they do is provide full report customization capability on the snapshots, then pass that along when launching a full size. Not sure if my feedback will make it up the line to anybody who can make a difference.

Can you tell me why downloading of stock info is no longer supported in Q2000? Is this Quicken's way of FORCING me to upgrade - even if I don't need any more features than I have? Is this GREED on their part - to keep me spending money on their products - even though I don't need the newer versions?

My stock updates have been broken for many months now. I thought it was broken software. But if I read your post right - this was intentional on their part for the above stated reasons. Right?

Companies are not compelled, either morally, or legally, to continue to support five year old software. In fact, most major companies have a 'sunset policy' under which they stop supporting older versions on a periodic basis. That's just good business on their part, nothing wrong here.
