Custom ALT Macro Problem

Anyone else having a problem when they Lock the ALT bar (with custom Macros) that after they press a button (use a macro) it defaults back to the plain function set of buttons but the lock symbol is still showing? The macros I am using are just a rehash of other buttons (Tender, Open/Close, Clear Customer, Set Customer, Work Order, etc.) but I wanted to have them all on one bar as opposed to 3-4 different bars. I have tried to read all the post regarding these macros, is this a flaw or is it me?

Is there a way to make the ALT bar be the default bar that opens first when you start the POS system?

Thanks for the help!

Jeff -

I understand that you cannot change the existing fxn keys - that makes sense. Here is the wierd part tho - When I am in security mode(lock) any function key i use when I am at that level (ctrl or ctrl/shft) stays at that level, it doesnt change back to the default function key set. However, when I lock it at the ALT setting, no matter what I press it goes back to the default function key set. It isnt consistent.

Is there a way to set the macro so that after I press a button it goes back to the alt setting with security mode?

I use the touchscreen keyboard now, I d> Jamie,

Well, I'm not sure why you are seeing inconsistent behavior, but if the lock symbol you are talking about is the one on the lower left of the function key bar, right next to the F7 key, then it has nothing to do that behavior. that key indicates that you are in security mode - it means that you can press Ctrl-s to set cashier access the controls on the POS Screen. It does not "Lock" the function keys to their current position.

I guess that at the end of all of your macros you could click the function selector button until it gets back to Alt. The lock symbol will still not be relevant...

Glenn, Thanks for the reply.

I would be interested if anyone else is having the same problem -

Set up a macro on the ALT bar for work order. Enable the security and press the work order button.

Now go to the CTRL bar and enable security and press the work order button.

In my RMS, the ALT Macro defaults back to the normal startup FUNCTION bar when security is enabled and the CTRL bar stays at the CTRL bar when security is enabled. It is definately weird and that is what I am trying to fix.

In an attempt to find a work around -

I set up my WORK ORDER macro on the ALT screen with the final keystrokes of pressing the ALT key and enabling Security. However, those buttons that are toggles (Work Order for example) just undo the security if you press them back to back.

So is there a way to write a macro script that enables what I am looking to do that can call an external file? My example (not in any program language - just brainstorming the logic)

start CTRL.F2 (for work order) ALT.BAR=TRUE ENABLE.SECURITY=TRUE end

above "code" is not an existing command, just trying to run through the logic. Am I overreaching for this product?
