Delivering items at time of Layaway

Is it possible to create a layaway and deliver (or pick-up in RMS terms) some of the items right away?

At the moment we either:

A) create the layaway and take the deposit, then recall it and "pick-up partial layaway" to deliver the items the customer is taking right away; or

B) do a layaway for the items that are not being taken that day and do a new transaction for the item the customer is taking.

It would be nice to have the option to "pick-up partial layaway" at the time the layaway is created. I tried to edit the "RTD" column in the POS screen to try to deliver the items but nothing seems to work.

Any solutions out there?

Thanks,

Hi Dan,

I don't know why you have to make a layway then deliver the goods right away. Well in fact, you can make a normal sale transaction and give the goods to the customer. Layway is used for a specific purpose wherein customer are asked for deposit and the item will be delivered when they want it (on a limited time).

1) you can do --> make a layway for the item that customer wants to be reserve and then make a normal sale transaction for the item the custmer wants to have right away.

I hope this will somehow clear some thoughts :)

We run into that situation frequently. Customers take part of a sale with them and come back for the rest. There are numerous reasons that may occur, such as when dealing with large items that don't fit in a car; package deals where all items are not immediately available and in our case (pets) someone may want to take home a cage/supplies and be set-up before bringing home an animal.

It is confusing and inconvenient to the customer to have to process 2 separate transactions. Hey Dan, if you want to put that in as a suggestion for MS, I will vote for it!
