Department, Category and Sub Category?

Hi I am just wondering if there is a way round to having sub category in RMS.

Example : Department > CPU Category> Intel Sub Category> L775a Chipset

At the moment I am using Sub Description 1 etc ..but its not very helpful when searching for the product as the Item Lookup screen doesn not show the department nor the category nor sub description 1 column to search for products!

Please if any one has a way round it please do let me know

Dushayant,

Try Retail Realm, they have a Unicode Search tool that allows you to specify the fields that appear in a custom find window.

I don't think there is a way around it, but this add-in may do what you want.

Look on page 2. I didn't see the search utility listed on their shopping cart. Maybe you have to request it by email.

Aren't you mixing dept/category with sub-description attributes? CPU is a department. Intel is a brand (sub-description). L775a Chipset could be considered a category or product attribute. You could create a category called L775a Chipset, but how many other categories like this do you have? Or you could enter L775a into a sub-description field used for Chipsets. You can also use the New Item Wizard, select Matrix, define one of the dimensions as Chipset, enter L775a, and it will appear in the sub-description and base description by default as long as the base description does not exceed 30 characters.
