I need more fields in item properties tab to described my items. Those fields would have to be able to print on labels. I have already used Sub Description fields. In labels field option i can see Ptiotio for 3 "detail title" and 3 "Detail Field" but i can not find them in any item properties.
Is there any other way to add custom fields to item properties ?
You can add additional fields in the config (in manager - file - config - captions) and go into the label template you use and add the fileds.
Robert, Out of the box there is no way. Once you use up all 3 Sub Descriptions, captioned or no, that is all RMS has to offer. We have two customization, Advanced Item Lookup and RITE Label that could be modified to make this happen in a very straight forward way.
Advanced Item Lookup currently is a reproduction of the standard Item Properties form that allows a cashier to define 2 additional classifications beyond department and category. We could easily build on top of this and add another tab to the item from with additional fields of basically any type you would like.
RITE Label is an enhanced labeling software that uses RMS labels but is cable of doing many more things than RMS alone. Among these is the ability to print many fields from an item that RMS cannot. We could easily modify this program to print the new fields we just created in AIL.
None of this functionality is there right now, but we have a solid base to build from. This means there will be costs involved in adding this functionality into our applications, but not the type of costs that would be involved if we were building something from scratch.
