It appears as though POS2009 allows Custom fields (date, text, number) in the Customer form but not in the Item form. Our business requires tracking of item information (release dates, labels, configurations, formats, etc.) beyond which the standard fields in the Item form allows. Is it possible to add custom fields to the Item form beyond the three text fields that are limited to 30 characters? If not, is it possible to adjust POS2009 using the SDK to add the ability to add custom fields (for dates, text greater than 30 characters, drop-down lists, numbers) to the Item form? Would it then be possible to utilize these fields in Reports?

Greg, By default you have access to Detail 1, 2 and 3. It does not appear these can be captioned as they could in RMS, but they are there for you to use. You can also, really make use of any field however you want as long as you are not using it by for another reason and/or it does not have special meaning within POS.
The alternative is to have a customization crated that would add another tab to the item form that would hold your custom information. If you are interested in such a customization, drop me an email and we can discuss pricing.
