Mick,
As Tim mentioned, you need to use a news reader to see and download the file attachments. Your Outlook Express can be used. Click on the following link, find Microsoft Retail Management on the right column and click on the "Open with news reader" link. It will open OE and connect you to this group. In the future, open OE and click on the RMS newsgroup and it will download any new messages.

It will then download up to 1000 messages onto your system. Look like there are ~1700 messages in this group. Go to Tools | Get next 1000 headers until you get them all. I think M$ deletes messages over 90-120 days old. You can also search the messages that you just downloaded too. Edit | Find | Message in this folder
Now to your issue, First Data is a competitor of Vital. To use RMS' built-in functions, you must use Vital as your processor. Call Sam's and see if they can offer you someone that uses Vital.
If they can't use Vital, then your options are buying a program called PC Charge or a program called IC Verify, which is owned by First Data. But there is a catch. The current version of IC Verify is not officially supported by RMS. There have been reports that it works OK, I have never done it myself with the newer version, only the older one, which you can't buy anymore. I don't know the current pricing, but ~$250 for the single user version and ~$500 for multi-user for either. I have never sold or installed PC Charge, but I think its priced about the same. Contact your RMS reseller for pricing.
One more option would an add-on from TPI Software

They can work with other processors, Concord EFS, iPay, Paymentech and Global Payments. It costs ~$150 per register station. They also handle more options such as check guarantee, EBT and gift cards. Again, contact your local RMS reseller.
One more thing is that if you need check guarantee, EBT or gift cards, only PCC, ICV and TPI works. The RMS built-in only handles debit and credit cards
The numbers given to you by Sam's is the info you would need if you are using a standalone terminal. If you purchase or lease (don't lease it as you can buy them for ~$200 new) the terminal from them, they will usually program it, careful because sometimes its a hefty fee to do that. If you have a problem with a transaction, that info and a telephone number for voice authorizations is all you need.
