Preferred Acquirer and Debit Card Processing

My customer decided to go with Bank of America as the provider for their merchant services. Setup was a breeze, with one exception: debit cards.

I purchased a couple of Verifone pin pads and went through the suggested setup. There really is n't much to configure. However, my pin pads do not test successfully using the method Microsoft describes. I can only assume that its because the EDC information is not complete in RMS Administrator.

I received all the necessary information from Bank of America with the exception of the Sharing Group number. Each rep, and my Bank of America salesman say they don't know what that is. I don't want to submit a ticket to Microsoft for them to tell me to contact Bank of America (who should shoulder this responsibility).

But I do not understand how they can be a prefered aquirer and RMS sales literature claim some type of relationship with these merchant services and they not know what RMS requires.

It's not Microsoft's fault, the B of A reps must be knuckleheads. Does anyone else know an alternate industry term that would describe the "Sharing Group" that I could relay to B of A and jar their memory?

Try calling Vital directly, you will need the Merchant Account Number and the V Number. 866-634-2099

You need _all_ of the information for debit card transactions, including the Sharing Group, Merchant ABA # and the Settlement Agent #. You can try BofA at 800-228-5882 if Vital can't help.

One more thing, you _did_ send in the pinpads for encryption, right?

Send this attached form to BofA for all required info.

Thanks. I finally got someone at Bank of America who knew what I was talking about.

However, for anyone else reading this, your bank has to inject their encryption key into the PINpad before it will work. You have to ship it to them to do that.
