Debit Setup

Nov 03, 2006 14 Replies

I have configured the Verifone 1000se pin pad in RMS ver1.3 in opos devices and enabled in register list. Ran the test in opos device config and staus pass. However during the transaction in SO POS I get Statusúiled and Approval= 19: RE ENTER. Trying to figure out if this a device or merchant setup issue. Debit transactions are new to Citi Merchant Services through RMS, according to my not so helpful rep. Any ideas

Buddy,

Either you don't have all of the information entered into the setup screens or your bank doesn't have you setup to take debit cards.

_Every_ field needs info entered for debit transactions in SO Admin | EDC tab | Bank and Merchant tabs. If you don't, debit won't work.

I have had the same problem going on two months now. The bank says it is and RMS issue and my partner and Microsoft say it is the bank.I have watched the partner enter all the information and it still gives the exact same error codes as mentioned in the first message of this string. I dont know whos fault it is or where the problem is all I know is I cant process debit cards. I would really like to hear how you resolve this.

of other ones, debit won't.

Buddy, Thanks for the reply. I am expecting to hear something in the very near future. I have at least accomplished getting the Bank, Microsoft and my Partner to communicate via a confrence call. If I get any information to pass on to you, I will be sure and do so.

Hello Brian and Buddy, This is a long shot, but... If you guys are using keyboard wedge Magnetic Stripe Readers, scan a debit card into notepad and see if the info that comes off the debit card makes sense or if it is garbled.

I had a problem with similiar symptoms (credit cards went through fine, but debit cards returned the same errrors). It turned out that the Operating System on the machine had been set to use a non-standard keyboard layout (Dvorak), and this was affecting the way the debit cards were being read.

I'm not sure why the keyboard setting didn't affect the credit cards, but I'm guessing that the credit card info is all numeric and this doesn't get remapped by setting the keyboard to Dvorak.

Anyway, the bottom line is that, in the process of trouble shooting the issue, has anyone confirmed that the data being read into RMS off the cards by the MSR is good data?

ICVerify may allow you to process debit and credit with First Data, but RMS will not integrate with ICVerify for Debit. It use IC Verify (or PC Charge) for debit, you would have to Alt-Tab from POS into the IC Verify interface and run the transaction there. Just wanted to make sure you understand that before you go down the ICVerify road...

Buddy,

Why are you using First Data Corp?

Have Citibank change you to Vital and end of problems. Citibank is/was the first on the list of authorized banks, provided they use Vital. Contact Citibank at this number (877-284-0310) and tell them you need to be setup and that you are using MS' RMS program.

Here is the KB article on how to setup RMS using Citibank for credit and debit cards.

We started out with Citibank as the merchant services provider about 3 years ago. Then we received a letter informing us that First Data Merchant Services Corporation was going to be doing the processing for Citibank. Now our statments all come on letterhead that says "Citi Merchant Services Provided by First Data Merchant Services Corporation".

So, I'm wondering if there is a difference anymore between the two.

"Jeff @ Check Po> Buddy,

Buddy,

Why not get a new merchant services provider who knows what they're doing! RMS has great support for credit and debit so long as you use a network that supports their integrated credit and debit messages. Mercury can do it. Vital can do it. Using a non-integrated add-in is an inferior solution in my opinion, unless you are trying to do EBT or something else outside of the norm. Otherwise, find an acquirer who knows how to do RMS.

Buddy,

What was your end result here? I am getting questions from some of our locations about integrating RMS with debit pin pads, and we to have a less than helpful rep with Citibank (aka First Data?).

Right now they are still trying to figure out if they even have pin pads that will work with RMS.
