Force prompt for quantity on specific items in POS

Apr 08, 2009 4 Replies

Does anyone know of a way to force the POS to prompt the cashier for quantity on specific items?

We have a candy counter in our store where most transaction involve entering a quantity for each item (often 5 to 10 items per transaction) and I am trying to make things easier for our cashiers.

Am I missing some simple setting in Store Operations Manager?

Do I need to seek a 3rd party add-on solution.

Thanks,

Set the item as a weighed item and change the Language file to ask for qty instead of weight on the registers(this is assuming you dont use weighed items)

I don't know of a way to force entry of quantity, but if you type in the quantity followed by the * symbol before you enter or scan the item number the quantity will be automatically entered. Example: 5* ILC will put the item with a quantity of 5 on the ticket.
