Getting started - RMS vs. other POS systems - need RMS help file or trial or... anyone using RMS e-commerce?

hello, I need some more info on what ms RMS can do. Is there a way to get a trial cd? can I get just the help files?

I have been looking at

formatting link
POSitive For Windows. any experience with that? Anyone like to compare and contrast the two? or any other POS systems?

thanks for your time,

I have to say, This is a good product and I have been using it for 5 years, got it when it was called QuickSell2000. I must say though, MS did a good job of screwing up the ease of use that QS had over RMS. WHen I got QS it took me less time to set that up then when I did the migration from QS to RMS due to a few things, one being MYSQL rather then a propriotary DB (not that i'm against MYSQL but it makes it more difficult for Newbs) as well as the drivers for the perpherials that worked instantly with QS took for ever to find and configure under MS.

My Advice, if you can find a good deal on all of your stuff from one vendor I would do that so you can be sure all your stuff works together, and if it doesn't and you don't know how to scower the net and newsgroups for drivers you wont' be stuck with out a pole display or check endocing feature for a few weeks like I was since I built the comp my self, and got the perpherials all from different vendors and ebay to save $. ;)

I will say that MS RMS does how limitless abilities for expansion, just depends on how much money you want ot throw at it and what you need it to do. I mean it is generic to Retail so it fits any company. If you are in a sector that has specialized POS solutions available (I.e pizza parlors, etc, ) you may consider those too. If you aren't then get a Demo of RMS. Once its set up its easy to use and train employees on.

Hope i didn't scare you, just tryin to give you all the info you need.

Good Luck!
