How to create a customer note

Question

I have receive a bad check from a customer and they have not responded to my statements or certified letters. Is there a way I can notify the cashier that a customer has an outstanding balance or just display some kind of note upon selection of this specific customer? I tried to make an adjustment to the customer's Account Information to reflect the balance due, but it didn't make a difference.

Basically, I want to be notified of this outstanding balance if he tries to make another purchase. Any suggestions?

I am not certain of how you accept check from customers, weather you are using RMS to enter in the account info etc.  When checking out a customer, they can select "check" as one of the options and that will prompt the cashier to enter the check info, once they do so you can have it set up so that they have to check with a manager in order for this customer to be accepted.  This option is in RMS Manager, and is listed under checks...but it must also be set up under tender transactions for checks to be allowed.  This is an option, I know it's not what you asked for, but I hope that it helps.Vince"Kev

I use the status html area to display messages about customers to alert the cashier. Only drawback to this is the information must be put into the customer properties by hand after a check bounces (and removed if made good).
