We are just installing RMS for the first time. We need to import our existing database from PowerPOS software, that we've had for 8 years. How can we convert that database into the RMS database, without having to import each item one at a time? We have close to 80,000 individual products, 11,000 customers, and about 700 different suppliers to import. We really don't want to do this one at a time! So far, no info comes with the instructions to tell us how to do this, unless we have QuickSell 2000, which we do not. I don't want to sit here for the next 5 years importing data! HELP!!!

This is normally something that your partner would take care of during implementation, so my first suggestion would be to talk to them about it. If that's not an option, there are several tools available to help - see the thread "Import excel into RMS" from 1/6 for some options...

The QSimport tool will work with RMS. It is not the most flexible tool in the world. For greater flexibility, try EMS SQL Data Import. It's inexpensive and offers much greater functionality than QSimport. One word of caution, though: if you are importing customer balances, use QSimport or talk to someone with more knowledge than me. I had to re-import my customers with QSimport. For some reason, the customer balances came through in the customer file but not in the AR file--statements wouldn't print for customers with imported balances until I imported them with QSimport.
