MDRMS HQ Data Import

I am working on installing RMS for two retail stores. I have found and used EMS Data Import for SQL server to load sample data into the Item table in a test database. This is a critical step for us because we have tens of thousands of existing items in the stores and we get hundreds of new unique items every week.

First question: Are there any associated tables that I also need to populate? I will be adding supplier, department and category data first (the regular way, because that is not a lot of data), but I am not sure if there are any other tables I need to involve in this process.

Second question: The last time I worked with MRMS, we created a custom interface that generated unique ItemLookupCodes and printed barcode labels with these codes for each item. We possibly want to use the supplier's ordering codes for the ItemLookupCodes, but that is not the same as the barcodes provided for the products. I found a reference that suggested that I would need to import the barcodes into the Alias table. Is that correct or is there another place to put the barcode data if it is not used for the ItemLookupCodes?

Thanks in advance for any answers provided. I do not have much of a budget to work with my tech provider, especially after the retail downtown the last few months.
