Merging sales data .bck file with current sales data??

In a post below ("Sales Data .bck file.....") Jeff @ Checkpoint Software responded that there WAS a way to merge the older sales history in a saved .bck file with the recent sales data currently in RMS. I am working with an RMS tech (not the one who was invovled in the lost data problem) and he does not believe there's a way to merge the data. If there IS, I would really appreciate some guidance.

Briefly..... We currently only have a few weeks of sales data in our RMS data base on our server, have definitely lost the 3 months prior to that BUT think we have a saved .bck file of the 12 months prior to the lost months.

We need to know at least 2 things:

  1. How to find out what is really in the .bck file that we think contains a year's sales data.
  2. If it IS the data we need...... how to merge it with the data currently being compiled in RMS.

This is a real mess for us and we'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Your answer are as follows:

  1. The way you can do so is that in the from the last backup restore as new database name to any. and in the SO configuration use the new restore database and then use the SO Manager program to see what is in.
  2. Merging is possible but is not easy as you specified I can give you idea : Database A (the current database) Database B (the restore database created with new name)

you can use the insert statements to insert the data in Transaction, TransactionEntry, TenderEntry, Journal etc. I think the MS tech who is near to you help you out in this but if you let me know what information you are really interested in so I can prepare the script and send it to you.
