Pole Display (LD9900UP) turns off again and again (not power off)

Hi, when we started with MS POS, everthing ran very well execpt for the USB Pole Display (LD9900UP), it sometimes truns off automatically, i mean it can work fine but it sometimes trun off automatically, i have to reboot my computer to activtivate it again. The pole diplay model is: LD9900UP (its a logic controls). I think the problem is that I installed Logic Controls supplied OPOS drivers for use with the MS POS software. I should install Microsoft supplied OPOS. but where can I get Microsoft supplied OPOS?

any idea? Thanks,

Shawn,

Did you install the latest Common Control Objects required in Step 1 of Installing Hardware of the Getting Started manual?

how can I install it and configure it? I am using MS POS, not MS RMS, MS POS does not have "Configure Microsoft OPOS Service Objects" program. And my Microsoft certified partner did not provide me with the Common Control Objects 1.8 CD.

I am using Logic Controls supplied OPOS drivers and virtual COM port drivers. I also tried USB drivers. Both got the same problem: Pole Display (LD9900UP) sometimes turns off automatically.

I got the follow> Shawn,

in case its a power saving issue, make sure in device manager if it shows up that "Allow windows to turn this device off to save power" setting is not enabled if available. Sometimes this happens with network cards and other devices.

Right click on my computer, then click manage, then go to device manager.

Thanks, j, there is no "Allow windows to turn this device off to save power" setting for the device.

Shawn,

As I remember, there is a .bat file to run. That installs the CCOs and then install the LC OPOS drivers on top of that.

If you have already installed the LC files, sounds like you have, I would uninstall them first!

Hi, Jeff: Thanks for your reply, I uninstalled LC OPOS drivers, and then installed the CCOs and then LC OPOS drivers. But the problem still exists; the pole display sometimes will turn off automatically.

any ideas? Thanks, Shawn

Shawn,

Have you tried this to wake it back up;

Q. Can I test a pole display in Microsoft Windows?

A. Yes, you can run a function test for serial interface displays using the program Hyper Terminal which is included with Windows. (If you cannot find the Hyper Terminal program, you may need to install it from the Windows CD with 'Add/Remove Programs' in Control Panel.)

Choose 'Start' -> 'Programs' -> 'Accessories' -> 'Communications' -> Hyper Terminal. Click on HyperTrm.

When Hyper Terminal is up and running, enter any name for the session, click OK.

Set 'Connect Using' to 'Direct to COM1' (or COM2 whatever your case may be).

Set the protocol to match your pole display (default: 9600 baud, no parity,

8 data bits, 1 stop bit). Click OK.

Begin typing. All characters should be showing on the pole display.

What does LC have to say about it??
