POS 2009 -Changing Databases

I have a multistore environment, and currently with RMS I have a program I designed to switch databases using batch files and registry changes to change the database I'm working in with the click of a button.

With POS 2009, I can't seem to find where there is either a registry file that contains this info, or if there is somewhere in the POS 2009 program files folder where I can change the db its pointing to. Anyone know where this is stored? Thanks and much appreciated!

Ok, so I don't see ANYTHING for POS2009 in the registry. I did however come across this file in the root of 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics - Point of Sale', called 'rmssecured.config' that has the following variables in it:

I'm guessing this is it, so I could create a program that runs a batch which cloeses POS2009, overwrites this file with the proper variables inputed, and reopens pos2009. Would this do the trick? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

There is a button on the login screen called Change Connection. Click on that and press OK on the next screen. This will allow you to select from the available databases.

The only problem I have found is that when you do this it seems to wipe the passwords in the previous database. So everytime you change you get the new password wizard. The system must automatically wipe the passwords when the database is changed because when I tried to manually change the config file to another database I was unable to log in.

This could be an "annoyance" security feature design to circumvent people from using two databases in one store AND this may only be a problem as I am testing on the same machine the server (database) resides on. Changing the config file may work for you if both servers are on different machines.

Only way to find out is to give it a test. Make a copy of the config just in case for backup.
